Our Brussels office is looking for a Business Development Manager.

We are also strong in the areas of competition, employment, funds, telecoms, IT, IP and public law. We combine expertise in practice areas relevant to our clients with an in-depth understanding of their sectors and the strategic and economic drivers. 

We support clients not only in our home markets of the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg but worldwide, as a significant number of our clients are involved in cross-border or multi-jurisdictional transactions and proceedings. To this end, we work with a high-quality network of leading law firms in all major jurisdictions and financial centres, with which we cooperate intensively on a non-exclusive basis. We also have a strong presence on the American and British markets thanks to our offices in New York and London. In recent years, our cooperation with law firms in China, India and other emerging markets has increased. In general, we wish to increase the commercial impact of the firm. More specifically, we have set ourselves the goal of generating more and better quality business in the Benelux market with corporates and financial institutions. The Business Development, Marketing & Communications team (the "BMC team") supports our lawyers and the firm as a whole in realising these commercial objectives. 

The Position:
You will be responsible for:

  • Translating and implementing the firm's BD strategy into a strategy for the Brussels and Luxembourg office, as well as maintaining relationships with selected key accounts for the purposes of generating turnover growth and creating or increasing the potential for cross-selling.
  • Guiding partners, counsel and senior associates in their BD efforts and helping to acquire new clients and expand existing client relationships. 

You will be based in Brussels. You will report to the BMC Director in Amsterdam and align actions with the managing partners of the Brussels and Luxembourg offices. The BMC Operations Manager in Brussels, with whom you will coordinate various activities, will be your peer. 

Skills and competencies:
•    Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field
•    French, Dutch and English (fluent)
•    At least 3-5 years' experience in business development as well as previous law firm experience are highly desirable. 
•    Able to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•    Strategic thinker with a pragmatic, hands-on approach
•    Results-driven problem solver
•    Experience with - and a good understanding of - marketing and advertising
•    Ability to read and analyse relevant data sets
•    Ability to provide consistent high-quality work under tight deadlines.
